Counter Culture Challenge

Go against the grain, take the time to develop better habits, and become the best you!

It may seem easy, but start small, be consistent, and see where you’ll go!

One of the best things I have ever done for myself was developing better habits. We have all heard the saying, “we are what we repeatedly do.” To me, that saying is a hard truth. If we are what we repeatedly do, why not optimize and capitalize on this?

I was able to integrate better habits into my life by developing morning and nightly routines. Start simple and build off of that (see the Counter Culture Challenge above if you need a simple framework to follow). Do the things that make you proud and let go of the rest. Consistently building better habits has allowed me to surpass my dreams and become the best version of myself.

“Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become. No single instance will transform your beliefs, but as the votes build up, so does the evidence of your new identity.” - James Clear

I recommend the book, Atomic Habits by James Clear, to help you develop better habits

Build Better Habits

In 2020, I was starting to show signs of illness. I was diagnosed with a benign adenoma, discovered I had vitiligo, and injured my knee for the fifth time in my soccer career. I was a 24-year-old professional athlete, shouldn’t I have been at the peak of my health?

Something was wrong. I had been living in so much fear. Worried about what others would think; worried about constantly achieving. It was making me sick. After facing back-to-back setbacks, I was forced to take some space. I thought if these physical problems appeared, there was probably a cause. I took up journaling and meditating, and completely changed my diet. Soon, I started to see signs of healing. I truly believe we can heal so many things through a peaceful mindset and healthy diet.

Since 2020, my adenoma has halved in size, my vitiligo has begun to reverse (despite dermatologists telling me there was nothing that could be done), and my knees have been pain-free. Most importantly, my mind and soul feel at ease.
